A tactile, construction led business card that uses thickness, colour layering and restraint to create impact in a deliberately understated way.
Produced for Marmalade on Toast, the cards were built using a bonded triplex construction, combining three layers of Mohawk Superfine Ultrawhite Smooth to create an exceptionally thick and substantial final piece. The edges were then painted in PMS 804, introducing a vivid fluorescent orange detail that only becomes visible as the card moves in the hand.
The front is intentionally minimal, with a blind deboss pressed deep into the lower sheet. Rather than relying on foil or heavy print coverage, the design uses pressure, shadow and material contrast to create interest through light and movement.
On the reverse, black digital print is applied with restraint, keeping the layout clean and allowing the weight, edge colour and construction of the card to remain the focus.
At 85mm x 55mm, the format itself stays conventional, but the build quality completely changes how the piece is experienced.
